View moreIn the end, a control framework for large-scale battery energy storage systems jointly with thermal power units to participate in system frequency regulation is constructed, and the proposed frequency regulation strategy is studied and analyzed in the EPRI-36 node model.
Current research on energy storage control strategies primarily focuses on whether energy storage systems participate in frequency regulation independently or in coordination with wind farms and photovoltaic power plants .
Response Mode Incorporating SOC Energy storage devices are capable of significantly improving the system’s equivalent inertia and damping via virtual inertia and droop control, thereby improving grid frequency response performance. However, in real-world scenarios, the capacity of energy storage systems is subject to inherent limitations.
The classical droop control and virtual inertia control are improved with battery charge as feedback. Also, the battery energy storage can respond to system frequency changes by adaptively selecting a frequency regulation strategy based on system frequency drop deviations.
